www.calgaryfoodbank.com is auctioning off some bowls that were painted by some of my media brothers and sisters. Please make a bid! Even if you don't like mine, take a look at Jocelyn Laidlaw's (from CTV) bowl and bid on hers!
For every $1 the Calgary Food Bank gets, they can buy $4 worth of food! We spend about 4 hours painting the bowls, so I'm grateful of your bids!
By the way, mine is at the very bottom of www.calgaryfoodbank.com... Z in Zack always puts me at the bottom :)
THANKS!

I've fallen in love with a serial killer...
but that doesn't bother nearly as much as the fact that my wife has too.
Dexter is quite possibly the best show I've ever watched. Better writing than Desperate Housewives, 24, Lost, and all others. And I've become emotionally attached to a serial killer. In fact, I've cheered him on!
The story is this: Dexter is a serial killer, who kills serial killers. Insert irony, he works for the Police as a blood analysis technician. Oh ya, and his sister is a COP too, and works with him.
This fall, Dexter starts Season 3. Sundays on CTV Calgary you can see Dexter in Season 1. But it's edited... VERY edited. THere is the odd f-bomb on the real Showtime show. Get it on DVD, and get caught up. But if you do, I suggest you block off your weekend. Each Season is 12 1 hour Episodes, and you'll definately want to watch more than 1 back to back. We've obsessed (excuse the PUN) about the show, staying up WAY LATE to watch "just one more episode".
Now, I've talked my buddy James into taking Dexter on a blind date. I'll let you know if they hook up!

Here's why you should never drink and drive
Imagine this... you've made a terrible error, you've been drinking and chose to drive. Home is only a few blocks away. It's dark and rainy. You're sitting in your car, and you've crashed into someone. You seem to be OK; you're scared. The other car is crushed in front of you, and it's eerily quiet. Nobody is moving. You move, first out of your car and over the sober driver's car. Windows are smashed. You look inside. There is a woman inside, she is your wife. And now she is dead.
Now that I have your attention, here is the actual news story.
MONTREAL - The head-on crash that killed Renee Bourbeau was much like many other drunk-driving accidents on Canadian roads except for one horrible coincidence.
The alleged drunk driver who smashed into Bourbeau's minivan was her husband, Patrick Laflamme. Laflamme plowed his truck into the van the 41-year-old mother of two was driving Saturday evening in Drummondville, Quebec.
Laflamme, 36, was charged in his hospital bed yesterday with drunk driving causing death.
He is recovering from leg fractures and head lacerations.
Bourbeau died in hospital a few hours after the collision.
Quebec provincial police say Laflamme had left a local bar and was just minutes from home when the spectacular crash occurred. Bourbeau had been with Laflamme at the bar earlier in the evening and had left without him. Later, police allege, Laflamme was driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic and slammed into his wife's vehicle in the 90-kilometre-an-hour zone.
Police say darkness had settled in just after 8 p-m and a heavy rainfall made visibility poor and the roadway slick.

How Much Can You Doggie-Do?
Here's a dilemma... my old Dog. When we had babies, we had dogs. Big ones. With a new baby, and 2 Great Danes, we had to find 1 of them a new home. And so the Saga begins.
Ok, so we found a home. It was my dog's hairdresser! Perfect! Now, 3 years have gone by and it has come to light that perhaps my old pooch isn't living in the best of "cleanliness" conditions. Oh, the irony.
We don't know what to do. The hairdresser signed an agreement with me about the quality of life of the pooch... etc, but what do I do? Is a dog living in a home that there is poop all over the house bad? I mean, he's obviously eating, judging from the poo! Is that enough, or does it go deeper; Is he not getting medicine? Can you report someone for not walking their dog? Animal welfare rules in Alberta aren't the best... is this a welfare issue, or a taste issue?
Here's me in a pickle. Blog out your suggestions please. Maybe you know somebody who knows how to deal with something like this...

Perspective
Life is all about Perspective. 2 words are heavy for me... Integrity and Respect. Although, it really ends at Integrity. In my opinion, if you have integrity, you have the rest.
Anyway, my coworker Maria sent this out to our staff... perhaps you will appreciate it as much as we did. This is a short entry... and you will understand why I have nothing to say after you watch the video clip. It's about 11mins long.
